Blooming Lawns!
On a nice, bright day, we all enjoy playing in our gardens and having a summer BBQ with our loved ones. One would contend that relaxing on lush summer grass enhances pleasure. However, this may be the most challenging period of the year for lawns. You may use these dependable lawn care tips wherever you reside to keep your grass looking lovely all summer:
Water Deeply
In hot, dry weather, your soil’s moisture content may drop. Due to moisture stress, grass blades may wilt, their shoots and roots may not develop as well, and they may become more susceptible to weeds and pests. You should water aggressively once or twice a week to combat this if there aren’t any water restrictions necessary because of the drought conditions in your location. The depth of the water should be between four and six inches. If at all feasible, water your grass as soon as the sun rises in the morning. You may avoid the sun drying off the moisture before it can be absorbed by your lawn by doing this.
Mow High
Mow high to encourage strong root development and heat tolerance. Increased shade from taller, broader grass keeps weeds from proliferating and taking over your yard. First, sharpen the mower blades. Raise your blades over the summer and modify the heights according to the type of grass. Summer grasses should be mowed at 2-3 inches, while cool-season grasses should be mowed at 3-4 inches. After mowing, never leave more than 13 grass blades visible.
Treat Pests
Although there are more insects around during the summer, not all of them are bad for your lawn. However, if you come across insects like Japanese beetles, June bugs, or European chafers that devour your grass and cause bare areas and wilting, you should exercise caution. If Japanese beetles are not handled, they will eat your grass and lay eggs, which will hatch into grubs and start chomping on your lawn. As a protective step, use a grub control solution to halt this in its tracks. When using, be sure to adhere to the directions.
